Three types of procedures were performed: cholecystectomies in 59 % of cases, appendectomies 17 % and diagnostic laparoscopies in 24 %, all of which were done by residents.
Results: Operative’s times were 35 to 70 min., two mayor complications occurred, one sub hepatic abscess and residual peritonitis of appendectomy.
In respect to the Hospital stays, 49 % were of 1 day, 35 % were of 2 days, 16 % were of 3 days or more.
Conclusion: Video laparoscopic surgery technique offers a fast and sure diagnostic and therapeutic method, low frequency of complications and prevents unnecessary laparotomy.
