Outline
Workshop
In this workshop we will review the three steps in the assessment process as described in our presentation:
- 1.
- Define learning outcomes for each program and course,
- 2.
- Measure how well these outcomes are being achieved using independent and objective means of assessment, and
- 3.
- Use the feedback from the assessment step to continually improve the effectiveness of programs.
We will then take as a case study a typical medical program and develop a rudimentary assessment plan that includes learning outcomes for the program and for selected courses in it, assessment tools for measuring student learning, and a feedback mechanism to make sure that the results of the assessment step are used to continually improve the program design.
